Modern Slavery Statement

Man with Van Plumstead Modern Slavery Statement

This Modern Slavery Statement is made on behalf of Man with Van Plumstead. It sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We recognise that modern slavery is a severe violation of fundamental human rights and we are committed to conducting our business in a responsible, transparent and ethical manner.

Our Business and Supply Chains

Man with Van Plumstead is a local removals and transport service provider, operating primarily within Plumstead and surrounding areas. Our activities include household and small business removals, item collection and delivery, and associated storage and logistics services. Our supply chain mainly consists of vehicle suppliers, fuel providers, equipment and packaging suppliers, maintenance contractors and occasional agency labour providers.

Although we operate on a relatively small scale, we understand that modern slavery can occur in any sector and at any level of the supply chain. We therefore review our relationships with suppliers and contractors to ensure our expectations on labour standards and human rights are clearly communicated and upheld.

Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery

We operate a zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and human trafficking in all forms. This applies to our own activities and to everyone we work with, including suppliers, subcontractors and business partners. We will not knowingly work with any organisation that is involved in, or complicit with, any form of forced labour, servitude, human trafficking, child labour or exploitation.

Our zero-tolerance stance is reflected in our internal policies and in the expectations we set out for third parties. Where concerns are raised or non-compliance is identified, we are prepared to suspend or terminate relationships and to cooperate with relevant authorities as appropriate.

Supplier Standards and Audits

To support our commitment, we seek to work only with suppliers and contractors who share our values and comply with all applicable labour and human rights legislation. When we engage new suppliers, we consider their reputation, ethical practices and compliance with modern slavery laws as part of our selection and onboarding process.

We reserve the right to carry out audits or request evidence from suppliers to verify that they have adequate policies and controls in place to prevent modern slavery. This may include requesting information about their own supply chains, workforce practices, training, and due diligence procedures. Where feasible and proportionate to the risk, we may conduct site visits or request independent certifications.

If an audit or assessment identifies any indication of modern slavery or serious labour abuses, we will require corrective action within a reasonable timeframe and will monitor progress closely. Failure to implement effective remedies may result in the termination of the business relationship.

Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels

Man with Van Plumstead encourages all workers, suppliers, contractors and other stakeholders to report any concerns or suspicions related to modern slavery or human trafficking. We are committed to ensuring that reports are taken seriously, treated confidentially where possible, and acted upon promptly.

Concerns can be raised directly with a manager or senior representative of Man with Van Plumstead in person or in writing. We will investigate all reports thoroughly and fairly, and we will not tolerate any form of retaliation or disadvantage against individuals who raise concerns in good faith.

Where appropriate, and in line with legal obligations, we will cooperate with law enforcement agencies and other relevant bodies in the investigation and resolution of modern slavery concerns.

Training and Awareness

We aim to increase awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff and key suppliers. This includes explaining what modern slavery is, common indicators of exploitation, and how to report concerns. As our business grows, we will review and enhance our training materials and communication to ensure all relevant individuals understand their responsibilities.

Annual Review and Continuous Improvement

This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed annually by the management of Man with Van Plumstead. As part of the review, we assess the effectiveness of our existing measures, take into account any incidents, feedback or regulatory changes, and identify opportunities for improvement.

We are committed to continuous improvement in our approach to tackling modern slavery. Over time, this may include strengthening supplier requirements, refining our audit processes, expanding staff training, and deepening engagement with our partners on ethical labour practices.

This statement reflects our position and actions for the current financial year and will be updated annually to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to preventing modern slavery and protecting human rights throughout our operations and supply chains.
